Congratulations on a great victory to end your soccer career with Issaquah Soccer Club. Our B93 Red
coached by our very own Gary Shane won the 2013 Washington Youth Soccer Challenge Cup by beating
Highline Premier FC 4-0. This is their second state championship (they also won the Challenge Cup in
The boys dominated the knockout stage of Cup play, shutting out their three opponents while scoring 13
goals (by 9 different players)! Their toughest match was the Saturday semifinal vs. FC Shoreline, which
they won on a goal in the 86th minute by Caleb Salmon, off a nice combination from Alex Escobar and
Daniel Richardson. In the Sunday final, after an even contest during the first half hour, our B93s took
the lead in the 31st minute on clinical finish by Elliot Salmon, at the end of a nice combination from Zach
Lawless and Darren Birkwood. They padded their lead in the 55th minute on a put-back goal from Sean
Ratcliffe, broke the match open in the 64th minute when Daniel converted a PK, then capped off the
scoring on a Lars Bergfalk goal 10 minutes later. Ben Morgan recorded the shutout, his third straight
in Cup play. Four players made the all-tournament team: Alex Escobar, Daniel Richardson, Torey
Stewart-Steele and Zach Lawless.
Of the sixteen players on this year’s championship team (they also won the Washington Youth Soccer
RCL Division 3 title last Fall), twelve have been with the ISC Arsenal program since U12, including Ben,
Daniel, Darren, Caleb, Elliot, Sean, Torey, Paul Hegedus, Alex Spady, Josh Lazar, Jake Mele and Sam
Gillin. Alex Escobar rejoined ISC in 2011 and Lars, Zach and Jack Figg were added to the team this year.
ISC wants to thank all the players, parents and coaches for all the wonderful seasons. We wish the
players the best, not only in their future soccer careers, but in their life ahead!
