November 25, 2012 – Bellingham, WA – Issaquah Soccer Club’s WPSL team will be able to claim another player with international ties. Joana Houplin has been invited to train with the Philippine National Team in Fullerton, CA at Titan Stadium for a two day long camp, from November 26th until November 28th. This will be her first experience training with a National Team, and will train with 30 to 40 other girls being invited into the camp.  “My college coach got the letter addressed to me about a month ago; I’m not sure how they got my contact information, but I’m really excited for the opportunity,” said an excited Houplin.

Due to collegiate commitments, and a busy post season, Houplin was unable to attend the entire two-week long training period, but will be able to make it for the last two days of camp. She saw another great year with Western Washington University, playing in 18 of 22 games, nabbing 6 goals and 2 assists.  “It was a pretty busy year for us,” said Houplin, reflecting on her season with the Vikings. “We made it to the Sweet 16, losing to University of San Diego in regional finals, but it was the furthest we’ve gone in 4 years since I’ve been a freshman when we lost to Seattle Pacific University. We also won the GNAC Title and  Tournament this year.”

Houplin just completed her undergraduate degree and is currently pursuing a Masters in Kinesiology. While any future opportunities with the National Team remain unknown at this stage, she is hopeful that she’ll still be able to represent Issaquah Soccer Club’s women team in 2013.
