Micro Academy (U5 – U7)
MICRO PROGRAM
The Micro Academy program introduces the game to the youngest players. The sessions are split into training and games that will be coordinated by our professional coaches from the Gunners program. ISC Arsenal and Gunners players may assist with the training. Each session will consist of a short warm-up and then a specific skill will be taught to the players. After practicing the new skill for 5-10 minutes, the teams will begin to scrimmage. You will scrimmage a different team each week. We will have 4 or 5 five-minute periods with a 2 minute break in between each one. The number of periods will depend on the length of the earlier drills; 4 periods will be the minimum each week.
Game Schedules 2013 – TBD
UNIFORM
Each player should wear shin guards covered by socks, soccer cleats (cleats or turf shoes will work fine) and either shorts or sweat pants. Please bring a size 3 ball marked with their name. Team t-shirts will be passed out at the first session.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Coaches
ISC relies heavily on volunteer coaches to make the Recreation program a success.
U5-U6 teams will consist of 5 or 6 players maximum, U7 teams will consist of 6-8 players and will need a volunteer parent or older sibling coach. No skill is required to coach at this level. A professional coach-instructor will be at the field to demonstrate the drills and assist with the weekly scrimmages. Please register as a volunteer coach if you can help.

We provide coaching education sessions throughout the year. We will be starting a continuing education program for our Recreation coaches. Please contact Rozana Knutson for details.
Coaches will contact their teams, introduce themselves, and provide program information and their team schedules one week prior to the season start date.
Parents
Snacks at this age are optional, but if snacks are brought, please encourage healthy snacks (fruit) and water. These sessions are right before dinner time and sugary snacks should be avoided! Please note; no food is allowed on the turf fields.
Medical Releases: Parents, please bring your signed medical release to the first practice session (you will download this copy after you have registered). Coaches will need to keep at the field at all times in case of emergency. Click HERE for the form.
